The Town of Parry Sound is the world-renowned jewel of the 30,000 Islands on Georgian Bay.

Located on Highway 400 approximately 2 hours north of Toronto and 2 hours south of Sudbury, Parry Sound hugs the shores of the world's largest freshwater archipelago, known as the 30,000 Islands. In 2004, UNESCO designated the area as a World Biosphere Reserve, the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve. The town is also rich in arts, culture and heritage.

Parry Sound has a complicated approach that can only be done during daylight hours, beginning 30 minutes before sunrise. Arrival and departure times will vary over the cruising season based on sunrise and sunset times.

There are three anchor locations in the area, ranging in distance from .6 to 1.1 nautical miles to the tender landing. Tender times are between five and ten minutes. Anchorages 1 and 2 are in the outer harbour, while anchorage 3 lies in the inner harbour, all at around 45°N, 80°W.

The inbound leg from Georgian Bay to Parry Sound harbour is about 20 nautical miles at a reduced speed of 7.5 knots. Transit time for the approach is 2.5 hours. The channel has a minimum width of 45 m (147.6 ft) and minimum depth of 6.8 m (22.3 ft).

At zero chart datum, the municipal pier has a depth of 6.7 m (22 ft) and an available berth of 145 m (475.7 ft).

Port security and access to motorcoach and pedestrian routes are excellent.
